How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Inno Tire Hold HD on our 2024 Subaru Outback wagon. The tire hold HD is a heavy duty bike carrier that's gonna work for your heavier e-bikes up to 80 pounds each, and for any of your specialty bikes like carbon fiber frames, unconventional step-through bikes, or something that has a fancy paint job where you wanna have no contact to the frame. Let's take a look at the tilt feature that's included on our bike carrier, and see what type of access it allows us to our hatch area. And I'm just gonna, yeah, so I'd just give it a little bit 'cause we come kind of close with our handlebars, but overall it would, you still have really great access to the back of your vehicle, so that is something to consider as well. Hi. John with etrailer. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a nice, dependable, lightweight bike rack. This here is the Swagman XC2 Platform Style bike rack that we installed on our 2024 Subaru Outback. So right off the bat, I do wanna let you know that if you have a carbon frame bike, this isn't gonna be the bike rack for you because even though it's a platform style, we're still making frame contact right here. Now, if you have a regular bike without a carbon frame, this is great still because this is padded, and it holds your bike securely. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer and today we have the Yakima EXO system. So we currently have the double up bike rack and the enclosed cargo carrier, which is the gear locker. We'll take a look at how this system fits our 2021 Subaru Outback wagon. This setup is great if you're going for a big adventure, you're going to riding, need a bike rack that can carry your bikes different shapes and sizes. But you also need some cargo space for your helmets, your gear, your shoes, maybe your tents. This is a great way to store all of that. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com, today we're gonna be checking out the Saris MHS platform system on our 2022 Subaru Outback wagon. This is gonna be a platform style bike rack, holds the bike by the tires, which really opens it up to a bunch of different style bikes, let's check it out. The different style of bikes this can carry are kind of unlimited because you don't have to hold it by the frame, so then even carbon fiber bikes can go on here where we usually don't recommend those on the hanging style because that could damage the frame but, holding 'em by the tires makes it far easier. Not only that, there's not gonna be a center mast here that's in the way on some other platform style bike racks, so it's gonna help with loading and unloading, and we'll get to that in a little bit but, just kinda want to point out some quick positives about it. Another thing, is it can tilt away with the bike fully loaded, so let's go ahead and do that, that way if you forget something in the back of your Outback or you wanna throw something in there and you got everything loaded, you don't have to take everything off just to get to the back of that so, we'll just pull on this lever down here, and the whole thing tilts down to about there. It's even got a stopper, just in case the hitch is a little bit lower, it would stop before it goes fully to the ground, which is nice because some of those bike racks that do tilt, if it is low you have to move your hand away from that handle before it touches the ground, this one's got a stopper. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS platform-style bike rack on our 2018 Subaru Outback wagon. Now it's a platform-style rack that holds the bike by the tires. We've got two wheel hoops, one on either end, and that's giving a good, strong hold on the bike. We've got some secondary points of contact, but those are the main ones, and that's gonna mean zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame. Those secondary points of contact include this strap down here at the bottom holding our back wheel down, as well as this little wheel block up front that's just limiting the movement of that front tire. more

Hey everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2023 Subaru Outback. And while at first it may look like you can mount your bike in on either side, there is actually a ratcheting system for your back strapped wheel as well as a wheel chock for your front wheel just to help it sit in there better. Now, one of the big advantages of this rack is that does come with a tilt away feature. So we just go ahead and pull the lever here at the bottom allows us to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle, allowing us access into the truck. And there's enough clearance between the pedal and our trunk that I'm not really worried about it but this would allow me to grab my helmet, my shoes or either put them up when I'm done for the day. more

RockyMounts GuideRail 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hey, everybody. Cooper here from etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at our RockyMount GuideRail on our 2023 Subaru Outback. Our bike rack's going to be a platform style bike rack, individually weighted for 60 pounds each per bike, and as you'll be able to notice too, is a frameless contact support, so it's going to be really great for those carbon frame bikes, alternative frame bikes, as well as our e-bikes, too. Now obviously, with our bikes loaded, we're not gonna have access into our trunk, so if we actually pull this lever down here, it's going to allow us to tilt our bike away from our vehicle, allowing us pull access into our trunk. Now, whether we have our water, our helmet, our shoes back here, this allows me a lot more space in to just be able to grab my items, whatever I need before I start, or at the end of our journey. Now, in order to get our bike rack back up, we just actually go ahead and grab it and lift up until we hear that clip noise. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hi, everybody. Cooper here from etrailer and today we're going to be taking a look at our Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack on our 2023 Subaru Outback. Our bike rack is a two platform style bike rack and it is going to have that frame contact. That's actually what's keeping it on our bike here and then additional straps here down on the wheels keeping it into place. While our center mast touching our frame means that carbon bikes aren't gonna be available for this, as well as the bikes individually of being rated for 35 pounds each. Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Hitch Bike Rack how it fits on our 2023 Subaru Outback wagon. The Sport Rider SE is very popular first and foremost because it is able to get up to 80 pounds per bike loaded up. So it's a platform style rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 80 pounds, which is a lot. So it's gonna be really useful for your e-bike purposes. If you did wanna mix and match this with something with a carbon frame or a really nice paint job we'd recommend against it 'cause although it does make primary contact here on our frame hooks and they're padded, it still does make that contact there and could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. more

How's it going, everybody, it's Ethan with etrailer, here. Taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2016 Subaru Forester. Designed with e-bikes in mind it does support a handful of different varieties of frames and sizes with these clamps that swivel. Supports up to 66 pounds per bike. It is rated for RVs and travel trailers as well. But something to keep in mind is that if you are off-roading or using this on an RV, that it only supports up to 40 pounds in that case. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2016 Subaru Forester- Video
How's it going everyone It's Ethan from etrailer here today, taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E on our 2016 Subaru Forester. The rack supports a weight of up to 70 pounds per bike, which is perfect for e-bikes. It is rated for use with motor homes but it is not for travel trailers. So if that's something that's important to you, just keep that in mind. Our bike is held in place primarily through this padded frame clamp in addition to three straps on the bottom. This clamp does, like I mentioned, make contact with the frame, so it's something to keep in mind. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2018 Subaru Crosstrek- Video
Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro on our 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. This is gonna be a great way of hauling four bikes to and from your destination as long as you have a class II hitch or above. If you have an inch and a quarter class I hitch like we have today, then we can only carry up to two bikes and it's gonna be 35 pounds per bike, just keeping that in mind. And it does have a tilt away feature which is awesome for getting stuff out of your hatch but you have to take the bikes off to do that, so I'll show you that in just a bit. Right here we have three points of contact, two over the top tube and then an anti-sway strap right here. It's just gonna reduce the amount of movement it has and it's gonna help your bikes not collide with each other as much cuz if I took it off, notice we have a lot more movement. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Subaru Crosstrek- Video
Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Swagman Chinook bike rack on a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. This is gonna be a great choice for transporting your bikes of up to 45 pounds per bike. Since it is a frame mount, if you have a custom paint job or a carbon frame style bike, this might not be the one for you, but we do have a cool tilt away feature, and that's gonna allow us to keep our bike on the rack and still have access to our hatch, and when you fold it back up, you're gonna hear an audible click letting you know that it is secure. We have three attachment points, a strap for each tire, and the frame mount. To take the bike off, we're gonna start with the straps and just swing them out of the way, and then keeping one hand on the frame so it doesn't fall on your vehicle, we can then push on these buttons and swing them up, and I like to just take the hooks off 'cause it makes it easier for me to take the bike off. And I also like to lower this center mass down by lifting up on this lever. more

But it's gonna be made out of steel, so it will be very durable, last a long time. and it's finished with a black powder coat making it rust resistant. We're gonna have three points of contact, keeping the bike on the frame, and that is a strap on each wheel and then this center frame mount. more

We have the hanging style and we have the platform style. So these are both great, each in their own respective. Now the hanging style racks are typically a little bit lighter so they're easier to get on and off the vehicle and they're typically more cost effective. Whereas the platform bike racks where these really shine is they're gonna be much easier to load your bikes onto because you only have to lift them up a few feet in the air, whereas opposed to the hanging style racks you have to lift them up and over those arms, and sort of steady it all the way back onto the cradle. more

The Hollywood Racks Destination 2 is gonna be a very cost effective way to get two bikes to and from your destination, and today we're gonna be taking a look at it on a 2019 Subaru Outback wagon. So this one's gonna be limited to 35 pounds per bike. So those e-bikes, we're probably not going to want to put those on this rack. And it does have frame contact, so those carbon fiber frame bikes, this may not be the best option for you. But, when it comes to everything else, the wheel base is gonna be a max of 48 inches. And the cool thing about this is, if you do have some smaller wheel base bikes, so the kids' bikes or something like that, the little straps right here, what we can do is we can twist this knob, loosen this up. more

We have the platform style, which is what this is here and we also have the hanging style. So with the platform style, generally speaking, you can carry a little bit of a heavier bike and they're much easier to load your bikes onto than the hanging style rack because you have to lift them much higher. Now, on the contrary hanging style bike racks usually don't accommodate those heavy bikes. more

Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our Yakima OnRamp two-bike platform rack right here on our 2021 Subaru Forester. So the Yakima OnRamp is ideal for if you have extra-heavy electric bikes, and you don't like lifting them up onto your bike rack. That's a bit of an issue for me because we do have heavy bikes here at etrailer, and the height from the ground to where our hitch is on the Subaru Forester can make it an issue to lift it up on there. But also, even your normal bikes are perfectly fine up here on this OnRamp. more

Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack here on our 2019 Subaru Outback. So this is gonna be a great option for you and the family because it allows us to carry up to four bikes. And furthermore, you can kinda notice how our arms sorta taper in at the end here, and the reason for that is a lot of kids bikes don't quite have the frame linked to some of the adults bikes have, like you can see here. Therefore, we're not always able to fit them on the cradles, because they're just spaced too far apart, which is why we have a much narrower spread here that's gonna work great with both adult bikes as well as the kids bikes with the shorter frame. So there's two main types of bike racks out there. We have the platform style and the hanging style which is what we see here. more

Kuat seems to always kind of give you a couple options as far as, you know, the style of the rack and what I mean by that is the color combination. So this one's available in three different colors and you know, it's just nice to have a couple to pick from, you know, that way you can grab the one that you like the best or one that matches your car the best, whatever the case may be. So first impression of the rack on the back of the Subaru, I actually think it looks really good. I really like how it's kind of a compact design. more

Hey everybody. How's it goin' Today, we're gonna be going over the Thule Hitching Post Pro Four-Bike Rack here on a 2022 Subaru Outback. So the Hitching Post Pro is gonna be an excellent economical bike rack for you and the family, as it can carry up to four bikes. Now, the Hitching Post Pro is what's known as a hanging style bike rack, meaning we're gonna be carrying the bikes by the top tube here, compared to a platform style bike rack. Now just a quick, simple comparison between hanging and platform style bike racks: hanging style bike racks are typically a little bit lighter, whereas platform bike racks, a little bit more bulky, and they're heavier to move. Platform, however, allow you to carry heavier bikes, whereas the hanging style, which we have here, is usually limited to about 35lbs. more

So there's actually a couple different versions of the NV 2.0 here it's available in both two bikes and four bike configurations. We have the gunmetal gray with the orange accents here, and there's also a metallic black option as well. And again, both of those colors are offered in both two and four bike configurations, depending on how many family members we have with us and we need to take out. So the NV 2.0 is a premium bike rack option with a lot of great features you're going to learn to know and love. This certainly isn't your run of the mill economical option. more
